Tikasun:

The biodeisel game has been played at least twice by GLER already. There was a scheme with a couple professors recently and a scheme further back, see the news clip. As I recall the professors were with Texas A&M or Texas Tech. The professors quickly pulled the plug. I might be interesting to contact one of them.

Global Earth Energy to build plant in North Carolina

Buffalo, N.Y.-based Global Earth Energy Inc. signed a letter of intent in mid-December with American Distillation Inc. to build a 5 MMgy biodiesel plant alongside the chemical company's plant in Leland, N.C. Global Earth Energy will rent the land and build the biodiesel facility, which will be operated by American Distillation. Under a production and fuels blending agreement, Global Earth Energy will sell the produced biodiesel.

The American Distillation collocation provides tankage, personnel and a laboratory, said Sydney Harland, president and chief executive officer of Global Earth Energy. "Now we're looking for the right biodiesel plant." He anticipates it will be six to eight months before the project breaks ground and is operating.

Based in New York, Harland said Global Earth Energy chose North Carolina for a number of reasons. "The feedstock is around here, this is a good poultry and hog area. If we get into soy, it would be a better location because you don't have the problems as in New York with a plant where you need a substantial building because of the climate." He sees several market opportunities in the area, including two military bases that have mandated biofuel targets.

The North Carolina project is Global Earth Energy's first. "After we do this one, depending on how successful we are, we're going to look at other opportunities to put a plant near where the market it," he said.

According to Global Earth Energy's Web site, the company's mandate is to build, own and operate green alternative energy technologies to aid the world's energy crisis and help relieve the greenhouse effect. To achieve this objective Global said it plans to build, own and operate a one million gallon per year biodiesel plant. Global is also pursuing opportunities in the solar and wind turbine energy markets.
