My thoughts & theories, FWIW

It would be foolish to not consider all of the relevant "who" & "why" possibilities and probabilities since trades are what makes the market

first off, it was a big block at 5 mil with apparent follow-on trades of 3 mil, that significantly narrows the "who" field

my immediate first thought was York as I was expecting them to close out the books on the fund associated with the J/V in the near term, possibly before year end

but the type of trade makes that less probable as other have noted, York would be unlikely to monetize in such a clumsy fashion at this time of year and in current market conditions relative to OTC especially

Dropping 8 mil and crushing the bid would not look like savvy trading to their investors still waiting to tally their total gains on the J/V

So, for me, York drops down the probability slider quite a ways

Next up in the pool of big holders is RC who's situation has been laid out pretty clearly in the discussion on the conf call (although he was not mentioned by name, it isn't rocket science to figure out who that earlier 8+ mil block was purchased from). Hank used the phrase "ultimate margin call" in reference to what may have precipitated yesterday's trade and I can't think of anything to add.

As Hank also noted, current insiders have a place in the pool of holders who have blocks of that size. He also nailed the most likely "why" for a forced sale, a collateral placed on a loan that went bad.

as for the follow-on selling today, it might be more from the same source or just fear/technical, impossible to tell IMO

I'm leaning toward the margin call theory and that has at least 2 possible names.

A longshot possibility would be an unaffiliated holder who had a forced sale, either margin call or court-ordered liquidation.

The big money question is for every individual to figure out for themselves - What do I do based on the result of my analysis?
