Gold undergoes a purification process to remove these elements and obtain pure gold. There are two ways of refining gold. These methods are the Wohlwill process and the Miller process which result in varying levels of gold purity. The Miller process is rapid and simple, but it produces gold of only about 99.5 percent purity.
