In September of 2010, Western Sierra conducted an initial look at the Silver Cord silver mine. Those present were Michael Chaffee, Don Jenkins, Dan Stage and Diana Baker.
The mine was walked and wall samples were taken and later processed at Jacobs Assay Office in Tucson, Arizona.
The main tunnel is caved at the approximate 150 foot distance from the main entrance but passable. There is a secondary tunnel to the right that is caved and impassable (see pictures). There is water present in minor amounts throughout the mine. There is no specific resistant passage to the end at least in the main tunnel.
