The Global Positioning System is used by both the military and civilian worlds. Trust me; the military use is far more important than any other consideration. Aircraft have done terrain avoidance electronically since World War II without GPS. GPS now backs-up ILS approaches by giving azimuth, range, and altitude. The Wall Street Journal reports that Obama has $55,000 invested in LightSquared. That's why this fiasco has gone on for this long. Worse, LightSquared could be using the CLYW patent instead. Oh, I forgot. That ownership is still on the Double Secret Probation Vaporware Settlement now being written in the Star Trek Mirror Universe. But it's there -- honest! (I wonder if Drago has a beard there?)
