After reviewing the drawings of the Archimedean Screws, it appears to me that they operate on an incline, lifting the sediment heavy water discharged from the Hydro Cyclone and allowing the water to drain away through the drain holes in the bottom of the trough.
The drawings that FWF posted clearly show the replaceable seals on the screw edges and the drain holes. The drain holes would be self cleaning by the operation of the screws and the grit and sediment would be carried to the top and discharged.
They are, IMO, a secondary dewatering devise to send as clean as possible process water to the tubes, in order to minimize the sediment build up in the tubes.

With regards to the shake down today, that is killing all of us, I know. I personally am second guessing my commitment to PCFG and believe this is exactly the purpose of this ploy. In my opinion the MM’s are trying to shake the shares loose from people willing to take the loss and write it off at the EOY. For either covering short positions or building inventories, I haven’t a clue, but they appear to me to be operating with full impunity and lack of adherence to any rules or regulations.
I have been around here for 6 years (posting for around 4) and the fundamentals for the company that I INVESTED in are still intact.

I invested in a startup gold mine, in a gold rich area of the U.S. that had a business plan to recover gold without the burden of the environmental issues of toxic chemical recovery methods. They had completed their mill, at great cost with a less then desirable financing, got rid of that burden and today is operation as a fully functioning gold mine. Yes, there are more O/S then there was 6 years ago but that is how a company obtains funds to startup.
I’ll stick it out and see where we end up.
