Globe/CP say New Millennium's Labrador deal under fire

The Globe and Mail reports in a Canadian Press dispatch Monday that a member of Newfoundland's legislature is raising concerns about a potential iron ore mine to be located north of Labrador City and Wabush. The unbylined item says Randy Collins -- the representative for Labrador West -- says a public consultation on the development should be held. New Millennium Capital of Westmount, Que., is proposing a multibillion-dollar development in Labrador near Schefferville, Que. The development would include the movement of unprocessed iron ore through a pipeline to Sept-Iles in eastern Quebec. The pipeline would stretch more than 640 kilometres. Mr. Collins says a pipeline is not an efficient way to ship raw ore from the mine to the processing site.
