I also trade the miners and do fine. That is not the issue here. We were discussing physical diamonds, which led to commodities and collectibles, not stocks and the market. I have nothing against miners as a stock market vehicle, but for a hedge on the economy you want to own the real thing, the physical commodity or collectible, not a piece of paper saying you own stored gold or a piece of a company.
