Question has been asked many whether its actually illegal for Intel's compiler not to allow AMD processors to run the fast code generated by the compiler.

Remember Windows 3.1? Microsoft built in a check to ensure that it wouldn't run properly on DR-DOS, only on MS-DOS.

Caldera sued and won $300m from Microsoft.

I see similarities.
