Pellet plant could create 35 jobs at the Lake

Lake Cowichan mayor hopeful

By Lexi Bainas, Citizen November 25, 2011

After years of seeing the forest industry decline, Cowichan Lake residents have received news that will brighten the winter season: a pellet plant wants to move to the area, bringing as many as 35 jobs with it.

Asked how the company came to pick the Cowichan Lake area, Carroll had a surprising answer: networking.

"You can thank Bruce Ingram [husband of Lake Cowichan councilor Jayne Ingram] for that. He was in touch with another company we deal with and Bruce told them there might be enough fibre over there for a plant."
