After years of seeing the forest industry decline, Cowichan Lake residents have received news that will brighten the winter season: a pellet plant wants to move to the area, bringing as many as 35 jobs with it.
Asked how the company came to pick the Cowichan Lake area, Carroll had a surprising answer: networking.
"You can thank Bruce Ingram [husband of Lake Cowichan councilor Jayne Ingram] for that. He was in touch with another company we deal with and Bruce told them there might be enough fibre over there for a plant."
