I think you're comparing apples to oranges. Amazon is a store that sells products for value, and allows smaller sellers to also sell products for value. There is a clear benefit to using amazon.

Groupon however is only good for companies with soft costs like a massage parlor, or companies that need to fill space that is all ready paid for who only lose money due to labor cost and not fixed hard good costs.

Everyone else loses money big time. I mean when is the last time you used a groupon and became a repeat full price customer?

Groupon's "Technology" has already been cloned by everyone and their growth rate is drastically slowing. With this said groupon is still work a lot of money but think 100's of millions and not billions. Especially not 10.68 billion.
