They are getting pushed by the rest of the counties who signed the Kyoto agreement to full into line with the rest of the world.
New Zealand now imports 80% of it's cars because they are cheaper and conformed with the new carbon tax. New Zealand also has the carbon tax, and they were doing this back in the early 90s.
Australia is importing more and more cars from Asia now, slowly they will follow the rest if the world on carbon taxs. What about the USA? The government isn't that fussed about it. Alot of USA cities are now following the commitment of Kyoto and carbon admissions.
There was such a thing called tax credits in new Zealand where if you cut back it was implemented towards tax breaks for companies.
This is all good for the Lithium battery sector and lithium mining companies.
