Like someone else pointed out, nature hates a vacuum. In the absence of information from the company assumption and speculation will fill the void, so you're definitely right on that count. I can understand why they did it though. The PPS was already heading south like a duck in winter at the time due to the 504 financing effort, more bad news would have killed it. By keeping silent they probably helped us more than may otherwise have been the case.
