Here is a link regarding the proposed development and commercialization of the spring. Make your own conclusion!

Huge commercial development? Bottle the water? LOL !
"The area around the springs will be preservation, allowing only passive uses similar to the uses present today. Due to the uniqueness of the land use, staff is proposing that the area be designated as an activity center."
The development of facilities at the springs requires urban services not currently offered by Sarasota County. The property is not listed in the county's Future Urban Service Boundary, therefore a planning horizon for urban services is not established, Jones said.
Archeological treasures have been discovered in Warm Mineral Springs, including human fossils that are thousands of years old.
Prior attempts to develop the property have been met with great resistance by the Warm Mineral Springs community, Jones said.
"The primary objections were that the springs would be degraded because development plans include an intensive commercial component," he said. "Because of the archeological significance and general uniqueness of the springs, a conservation buffer of 1.41-acres will encompass the springs and downstream creek."
Going to be a long legal battle to attempt to destroy the spring. The locals will keep the wolves at bay. I am sure of that!
I will be in Port Charlotte next weekend to see my mom. I may stop in at the spring, I will report if I do! LOL
Happy Posting!
