IMO, what they should do is get the military involved. The Air Force is always looking for a test site, so just have them fly over the area to be mined and drop a M.O.A.B. (Mother of All Bombs). I understand the blast radius is about 450’ and that it can create a hole 100 feet deep in almost solid rock. It would save a lot of time and money on equipment costs and operating expenses by clearing a lot of ground fast. When they’re done all of the hikers will have a new area to explore and dirt bikers could play all day in the new hole.

We could allow future artists to use the now vegetation cleared rock as a controlled area to spray paint graffiti as an expression of their talents and exercise their freedom of speech. It’s a win-win for everyone! The Environmentalists would love it!
