Exactly, every "share" has a REAL share to back it up at the DTC...

If anything doesnt match, they basically will run it up and buy em back or even offer off market deals to the largest holders, etc (but this is rare and only on EXTREME Naked shorted stocks)

For the most part, when stocks run, they are able to cover because its hard to hold onto a stock that runs 400-500% =]
