There is a big problem with the attitude you describe. Pissing off the rest of the world is not going to work in the long term, because the rest of the world has plenty of WMD, including nuclear weapons, and it takes only a few of them smuggled into the US to destroy our economy and, therefore, our power.

Nuclear weapons make our great power almost completely ineffective against those that have them, no matter how puny they seem compared to us.

IMO, the biggest danger facing America today is to be blinded by the grandeur of all those aircraft carriers and forget how vulnerable we really are.
