They can declare what ever they want. whether its legal or not, is quite another question. Ask the company under what legal authority/legal precedent they feel justified in taking another persons property, or deny them the rights & privileges that they paid for ... just by saying they are going to do so?

The first question is, "Why do they even want to try?"
