The short sale reported doesn't have to match instataneously. For example during the reporting period the short amount could have increased from 3 million to 9 million and then back to 3 million in the same reporting period when the placement was filled and then the report would still say only 3 million shares short. Nice try using the IR explanation. Doesn't really work though. Mgmt states something IR can tell investors and future investors where they can find that info. Common sense and good practice. Actually might get people to invest when they are doing DD.
