Sonopress Among First to Achieve Official DualDisc(TM) Certification

ASHEVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2005--

Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Recognizes Completion of Testing Program; Sonopress Complies with All DualDisc Physical Specifications

Sonopress LLC, a world leader in media services and turnkey production operations, today announced that it has achieved certification under the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) new DualDisc(TM) licensing logo program. The program was created to ensure product consistency and compatibility between manufactured discs and consumer playback equipment. Having achieved certified manufacturer status, Sonopress is now listed on the DualDisc licensing logo website, where labels wishing to place the DualDisc logo on its products must, in addition to receiving a logo license, choose from a list of approved manufacturers. Sonopress is among the first manufacturers to complete testing and appear on the site (https://www.dualdisclicensing.org/manufacture/). Having successfully completed DualDisc testing, Sonopress has entered into a certification agreement for manufacturing with the DualDisc Licensing Authority.

"It is our belief that the DualDisc product represents a major step forward in the entertainment experience of consumers worldwide and we greatly appreciate the official certification granted to us by the RIAA and the DualDisc Licensing Authority," said Andrew DaPuzzo, director of audio sales for Sonopress. "Many labels will wish to take advantage of the rapidly expanding interest in DualDisc and this certification will ensure DualDiscs will be manufactured by a qualified replicator that has put in the effort to invest in both the equipment and time necessary to produce this very demanding product. We are pleased to be part of an exclusive group of manufacturers who can be relied on as a trusted source for quality DualDiscs."

The CD side of every DualDisc contains a full-length audio album while the DVD side offers a wide range of exclusive content incorporating such features as the same album in enhanced sound (such as 5.1 Surround Sound or enhanced LPCM stereo), music videos, interviews, photo galleries, web links, concert footage, lyrics and more. DualDiscs are intended for use on CD and DVD hardware devices such as DVD players, car stereos, PCs, game consoles and CD players.

"The DualDisc licensing logo program was started so that consumers could be assured that when they purchased a product with the DualDisc logo attached, the quality and playability of that product is at the highest levels achievable," said Bruce Block, Senior Vice President for Technology of the Recording Industry Association of America. "With a rigorous testing procedure in place, we can now enable labels that are licensed to use the DualDisc logo to access those manufacturers who have been certified to manufacture the product in accordance with the DualDisc specification."
