Malema Verdict Due Tomorrow

Irrespective of what the verdict is, South Africans' opinions ("The New Age - 8 November) of him are informative with totally polarised opinions. Many see him as the dangerous demigod he is whilst his supporters see him as their only hope in getting their share of the wealth. His supporters are overwhelmingly racist and uneducated (as can be seen in their postings) and that is a dangerous combination as common sense does not come into it.

The posting by a white supporter of the ANC (Annelie de Wet) correctly states the problem - Malema has identified some of the real problems from which South Africa is suffering and attacks them vociferously, but he provides no answers. He only uses his rhetoric for his own ends - to build up his power-base of disaffected youth.

Unless and until the South African politicians can excise the festering cancre from which Malema draws his strength, foreign investment in South Africa is at risk.

Remove that cancre and I'll invest in GWMGF without a second thought; leave the cancre to continue festering and any investment I might make would be short term and opportunistic , not the sort of investment which does a company any good at all.
