Avis Introduces DIRECTV(R) Service and DVD in Rental Vehicles

First Rental Car Company to Offer In-Car Satellite TV


PARSIPPANY, N.J., July 5 /PRNewswire/ -- To help vacationers make the most of their time on the road this summer, Avis Rent A Car System, Inc. today announced two new options to keep travelers entertained every mile of the way. Beginning this month at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, AZ, new Hummer H3 sport utility vehicles equipped with DIRECTV® satellite TV programming will be available for rent. Using the KVH TracVision A5 satellite TV antenna, Avis customers will be able to access more than 135 channels of live DIRECTV programming virtually anywhere they drive. In addition, Avis now has 5,000 DVD-equipped vehicles available for rent nationwide.

The patented in-car satellite TV system was developed by KVH Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI - News), and features the TracVision A5 system designed specifically for passenger vehicles.

Hummer H3s with the TracVision A5 and DIRECTV satellite TV programming are currently available for rent at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, AZ. There is no additional cost for DIRECTV programming in Hummer H3s. There is no additional cost for vehicles equipped with DVD players. Customers may reserve a Hummer H3 with DIRECTV by visiting http://www.avis.com or by calling 888-777-AVIS. Customers must request a DVD-equipped vehicle when making a reservation at 888-777-AVIS. DVD-equipped vehicles and Hummer H3s with DIRECTV are both subject to availability.
