Kraniotakes Cleared to Compete; ProElite Main Event Intact
Oct 27, 2011 By Mike Whitman

It seems ProElite has finally caught a break with its second main event.

After Andreas Kraniotakes was initially denied a license to fight in Illinois, it appears that “Big Daddy” will compete at ProElite’s Nov. 5 event after all. Speaking with ProElite matchmaker Rich Chou on Thursday, Sherdog.com confirmed that Kraniotakes has been cleared by the commission to compete as scheduled.

Originally slated to feature a heavyweight confrontation between Tim Sylvia and Pedro Rizzo, ProElite “Big Guns” was dealt a blow when the Brazilian withdrew from his bout just 10 days ago. Kraniotakes was tabbed as a short-notice replacement, but the German was reportedly denied a license to fight due to a lack of sanctioned bouts on his record. That issue appears to have been resolved, however, and Kraniotakes should compete as planned.

Also featuring a heavyweight co-main event between former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and well-traveled veteran Travis Fulton, the event will emanate from the I Wireless Center in Moline, Ill. Airing live on HDNet, “Big Guns” will feature notables Waylon Lowe and Reagan Penn, in addition to the opening round of an eight-man heavyweight tournament.

Hailing from Munich, Kraniotakes has won five of his last six fights. The 29-year-old has already competed five times in 2011, earning victories in his last three outings. “Big Daddy” most recently competed on Sept. 17, knocking out David Shvelidze in just 2:51.
