Selling stock when you have made a profit is the name of this game. What is someone needed money to pay a bill, pay a health insurance payment with the profit. I do not consider anyone stupid and surely not for selling.
After all, it is their choice as it is ours to stay in this. That does not make us smarter, it sure might make us more money in the long run. But today is today and the needs of some today is greater than tomorrow.
