This has happened to me and others. It's a little game the axxhole MM plays to punish you for orders he finds frivolous. He would have preferred you to spend the extra few cents and make the buy at .0079 rather than offer at .0078.

No one asked him to do this and no one has the ability to make him stop. He does it to punish people for some transgression only he finds. I got my two shares when I placed a bid for a tick or two above the existing bid. It think the B/A was .0050/.0066. I put in an order to buy at .0051 and he sold me 2 shares.

Put it in at All or None. It won't show up to change the bid/ask on the screen because it's an order with conditions, but if the amount is small enough, like 30,000 valued at $225, it will be honored in the event that someone dumps a bunch of shares. At least that has been my experience.
