We have no idea how big those tailing piles are so we don't know how much recoverable ore is available.
SIRG has an advantage in being an open mine vs an underground mine. Most of the "mining" is excavating, hauling, crushing and processing. Underground mines need ventilating systems to to clear toxic fumes from blasting and removing exhaust fumes from diesel equipment. Tunnels have to be cleared and shored up using timber or bolted to prevent rock from falling on workers. Holes are drilled and bolts are inserted to stabilize the tunnels.
Sometimes Shotcrete is used to reinforce the walls and prevent small rocks from falling.
The ore is then loaded on a vehicle and hauled out of the tunnels where it is loaded on trucks to be transported to the crusher. The Oracle Ridge mine is an underground copper mine NE of Tucson with 11 miles of tunnels so getting the ore out is a long process. They have no processing plant and need to find one.

SIRG has an advantage in that it will be able to deliver copper cathodes to Long Beach at a much lower cost.
