Platinum Studios does not really need to worry about recouping costs -- it does not hurt us financially directly. Now indirectly is another story since if the production companies deem C&A as profitable, they will make a sequel, which would mean more advertising dollars for Platinum. If the movie production companies were smart, they would start filming C&A parts 2 and 3 which would reduce the costs of making the film by half. They could then have a total budget of approx. $200 million and still make a pretty penny. If the take is $200 million per movie, that means a return of $400 million on the $200 million investment. The take should be even higher because all the people that saw the original movie would return to see it again as well as renewed interest by those that did not see the movie when it first aired. Win-Win all around.
