I have serious doubts that was Ed Killen. I suspect that it was someone involved with GLER that was trying to lay the ground work for a claim that Sydney Harland was an innocent victim in a predatory coal industry. Maybe Sydney, maybe Spiros, maybe a third party unrelated to them but very sympathetic.
