Water contains 2 atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. The definition of pH is the concentration of the hydrogen ion. Water breaks up into H+ (a hydrogen ion) and OH- (a hydroxyl) ion. AQLV has found a way to hide the hydrogen ions behind a ceramic barrier. Since a high concentration of H+ ions make for an acid environment and the oh- makes for an alkaline environment.
