Lee, Like in a divorce, there are always two sides to every story and hard for an outsider to judge what is truly happening on the inside. You see intentional conspiracies where I see lenders attempting to protect their interests against predatory borrowers who believe they should live in their homes for free.

I do not believe there is a grand conspiracy going on orchestrated by the financial elite to defraud the honest working folk of their hard-earned dollars. I think ethics and morals have deteriorated in this country (which, BTW, has always been known for its unethical pursuit of physical wealth at the expense of other people and other countries) from the lowest to the highest and is now at a point where everyone is gaming the system and no one can be trusted to behave in an altruistic manner and against their own personal best interests. Such a society cannot prevail for long, and when/if it collapses, we will lose more than just our homes and our money -- we will lose our freedom.
