The CVD solar cell manufactures are currently in the process of reducing wafer thickness to 150 microns. Dr. Flood stated that Natcore's LPD process will work on wafers that are 20 microns thick, which is the thinnest wafers that have been cleaved. When the solar cell manufacturers, using Natcore's LPD process, start to reduce their wafer thickness below 150 microns, the amount of energy needed to make the wafers and the price of these silicon wafers will start to fall, and Natcore's LPD customers will benefit from it.
