I used Word to try and translate. No hablo español so I can't tell if this is a review of the completed Barrick project and past SEAwind work or a potential agreement for Barrick to build more using 3Power? The article date is from today Oct 12th 2011. PSPW

Red end, the Aeolian park of Barrick

To about 80 km to the north of the Night love song, in the commune of the Fig tree, Region of Coquimbo, is the project of generation of Aeolian energy Red End, that it will generate up to 20 megawatts in his final stage contributing his production directly Sistema Interconectado Central (SIC).

With an investment near the US$40 million, this initiative considers the installation of 10 aerogeneradores of last generation in a total surface of 210 hectares. The supplier of the turbines will be the Seawind Briton, one of the most recognized companies in the heading international level.

The past 30 of October, Corema IV Region unanimously approved the Declaration of Environmental Impact (DAY) of the project. One hopes that the construction takes approximately six months, since the assembly of each mill takes around one week and it takes control of a crane of 600 tons and high altitude , that mounts the different sections in sequential form.

Which is the objective of the construction of the Aeolian park Red End?
The construction of this Aeolian park is part of the efforts of Barrick to reduce to the gas discharges conservatory. For that reason, we are working with expert leaders in strategies of innovating power plants, simultaneously that we looked for to improve the efficiency of our mines in the world. Against this background, Barrick just announced investments by near US$68 million in projects that will take the advantages from the clean energy and will increase the existing power infrastructure in diverse operations to world-wide level.

By the others, the efficient use of the energy is a necessity for Barrick, thus like for all the industries that use it as I ooze in its production. In scenes where the shortage is a reality, it is a good moment to think about the clean and renewable power plants, and what better than to put it to disposition of all those that use Sistema Interconectado Central (SIC), that supplies to the population of Chile most of.

It is in that context that, as of the 2006, one of the main aspects in which it is had concentrated Barrick South America has been the efficient power handling. Example of it is the implementation of a program of power efficiency in the operation of the Zaldívar mine, whose objective is to obtain a 5% of saving in energy consumption.

By what they chose to Seawind like supplier of the turbines?
Seawind is a company that counts on the experience and proven technology more outpost, in addition to a good number of wind prospections. That gives security us of high standards, of well-taken care of and environmental preoccupation, everything in agreement with our policy of Responsible Mining.
