You posted it John, it's in the article...control and profitability is the main reason which sounds accurate... wink
A few big players have a piece of Clearwire including Comcast and this way Sprint won't be subject to sharing and challenges that will arise out of that. Cable is also going this route....

However, for various reasons--including having no control over Clearwire--Sprint has decided to do its own LTE network, in conjunction with outsourcing some capacity to LightSquared.
