Great news for Canadian mining. If they aren't spending money on lawsuits, that paves the way for signing the JV with Kat Exploration. It boils down to money. Today looks to be a good day for mining in Canada.
Court of Appeals dismisses C$36m judgment against Inco/Vale refinery

A verdict in favor of residents living in the vicinity of Inco's former Port Colborne smelter, which some feared could have spawned other lawsuits from historic pollution, has been overturned.
