For those of you who doubt the effects of the wind and air pollution, smog at the Grand Canyon has been identified as coming from LA. Remember when Mt. St. Helens blew in 1980?
Map showing how far air pollution can travel.
Gold Mining creates scores of toxins that get released into the environment. Dust from long-term mounds will be forced into the air as a result of high winds, wearing down of open hillsides, mine dumps and tailings dams, can result in contamination of drainages, creeks as well as rivers.
An open pit mine on Conglomerate Mesa would produce diesel and dust pollution! More dust would be created by ore crushing, open ore trucks and the inadequate control of haulage road dust.
When the dust particles settle, soils, and vegetation, can be impacted. That’s exceptionally of concern if dust carries elevated ranges of metals.
