Actually, it does matter, as evidenced by God repeatedly telling us not to add to or diminish from that which He told us, but for some unknown reasons, Gentile Christian's don't get that.

Christ strongly reprimanded the Pharisees for merely adding hand washing.

When we add or diminish, we annul the Word of God.

He says over and over again -- don't change it.
