Hi Raz,
That's about right, now that you bring it back to mind. When it came out it was a bit more unusual than it might seem today. Too many unusual plot twist, odd ending mainstream movies have come and gone since. Our ratings are pretty close, though. Happy to see that.
I think you're going to like Diamond Men. I suppose I don't have to remind you that it's a low budget, modest movie. But it's really nice and easy to watch. It has a certain dignity. I liked it much more than Lola. For ME it's a 4 out of 5.
The reason I didn't like Finding Neverland (though I did find the actor who played Peter to be sophisticated well beyond his years, Wow! He stole the show), I felt no energy whatsoever between Winslet and Depp, for one, which made his supposed interest in her hard to swallow. It is possible they were being amazingly sophisticated, attempting to point out how it might seem in reality if a man were really interested in the young boys but using the mother as a ploy. I don't think that's what they were doing but that's how it played, to me. And it's something I wasn't much in the mood to fathom. Winslet's cough was pathetic. I was chronically aware of her chronic fake cough. The ending was predictable and silly - beautiful, but goofy - again, to me. The movie was unpleasantly manipulative. Even Depp bothered me in his Peter Pan role. Well, I could keep going but won't. Will move on now - :)
ps - forgive if I don't proof the post, too long.
