There are some (one poster in particular) who have insinuated the military doesn't attract any of the 'best and brightest' society has to offer, and has many times referred to my own service (and that of others ) as 'being on the government dole'. My response was:
You brought up the 'best and brightest' matter?
Tell you what, you carry your ass to Washington D.C., and some morning at sunrise take your know-it-all arrogant, stinking carcass down to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and take that slow walk down the sidewalk to the convergance of that "V" ... Go at sunrise, when it is quiet and the hub-bub of the crowds won't taint your thinking. Go at sunrise, when the light of the rising sun reflects off that granite in a special way it just doesn't at other times of the day.
Look at the names. Ponder the reflection of the rising sun on tht wall, and remember, for those men and women, the sun has set, and there are no more sunrises to enjoy.
Run your stinking leftist fingers over those names chisled in that granite. Take the time and trouble to carry a sheet of paper and a pencil with you, and look up and then make yourself an impression of the name of someone from your home town ... the name of someone you never heard before, but the name of a once living-and-breathing person to whom you owe a debt that is simply too high to ever repay.
Stand there for at least 15 minutes, and ponder what you see. Browse over the personal items, the flowers, and the momentos left at the base of the wall by still-grieving famiy and friends, items that meant something to their soldier, sailor, airman or marine. Watch that Park Range as he carefully picks up each one, so it can be catalogued and stored away.
Then, you arrogant son of a bitch, tell me which one of those names is NOT one of the best and brightest... just one. Just identify one single one, and once you do, then just go ahead and spit on it .... yeah, just spit a big ol' lugie on that name, for that is the way you repay that unfathomable debt
Will you do it? Hell no you won't because you don't have the intestinal fortitude in your blighted soul to even do that.
Will you do it? Hell no, because you're all big talk and no action.
Will you do it? Hell no, becuse you don't have the courage and integrity in your whole body that even one of those dead soldiers had in their litle finger.
Keep hammering away with your bullshit, but know what? Your inane blathering doesn't affect me, because I know I more than earned every stinking penny I was ever paid for my 20 years of military service to OUR country, and for the 18+ years I spent trying to do at least something to help provide for the safety of the good people in my community. I am damn proud of that time.
What have you done in your self-serving life to which you can point with any pride?
Regardless of what vile hatred and bullshit your stinking, dung eating, big mouth might spew, I know without a doubt, I contributed more service to this country in any one single year of my adult life than your entire lifetime on the planet will ever produce, and no matter what sort of elementary level crap you spout, I am damn proud of it, and would do it all again, should the opportunity arise - even knowing there are people like you and some others here on the board who have nothing but disdain for anyone chooses to pursue a life of service.
If all you can do is sit back in the safety of your basement, behind the anonymous security of your keyboard and badmouth those who are willing to go and put it all on the line to defend your freedom to allow your big mouth to make a complete and utter fool of yourself, then that's entirely your problem, not mine.
So just stay on your little kiddie high horse, and keep spouting out your own little particular brand of bullshit, if it makes you feel good about yourself. I realize you have to have some reason, real or imagined, to feel better about yoursef, and maybe that's what will work for you. But better yet, grow a fucking spine, and go figure something out you can do that will be a positive contribution to this nation. You need to stop wallowing in the self-pity produced by your realization you have never done a single thing to contribute to the welfare of your own little land of milk and honey. Great feeling, eh bigshot?
That's your challenge. Can you meet it? Will you meet it?
My money says no, that you'll continue to spout your own little brand of rhetoric, and continue patting yourself on the back, because you're 'good' at something ... you're good at making yourself look like a true fool.
