koko: Your first quote isn't really a prediction. As discussed yesterday, indirect barcodes have overtaken direct in mobile scans. I don't think there was anyone who didn't think this would happen.

NeoMedia has chosen another path and now uses direct barcodes. An indirect code in NeoReader takes you to a screen for a choice of searches (which I think is the Rothschild patents). So that makes all the work on registeries and clearinghouse worthless since direct codes require neither.
