ok, here's the counter argument to everything you just said:

Gandur sold out to SNP even when he thought Kina was the company maker. Well, they drilled Kina didn't they...what company did it make? Do you really think that if Kina was a gusher that they would have been able to keep it a secret all of this time? Who would be gullible in that instance?

Clearly Addax DID NOT know that Kina would be dry, and they DID KNOW that they couldn't handle it, and hence they sold out to SNP.

Furthermore, OBO-1 was not drilled by Addax.

And even it were drilled by Addax, all of block 1 appears to be in the baby blue zone so hitting something would've been a bit easier, you would think.

The crew on the Pathfinder also doesn't know how to find oil...they just know how to drill where they are told to drill and be ready for any big pressure or other contingencies and work the rig so that people are safe and the drill objectives are met, which is namely, dropping a drill bit where they are told to do so.

And if you were SNP, and you only wanted to retain your rights and had no idea how to get to oil, you too would only do the bare minimum, and hence the emphasis on TIME AND BUDGET. The emphasis was not on drilling every possible sand until they reached magma.

But then I could be wrong about everything.
