Not sure about drilling more wells until they figure it out. The "zones" that are or might be producing water are not being fracked vertically. As the horizontal section was drilled, they typically steer the drillbit up or down to stay in the meat of the target zone. When they fracked, they must have penetrated a neighboring zone with water. If you don't know which section(s) is producing water, you may steer too close during drilling and then penetrate it again when fracking. I'm obviously not knowledgeable but just trying to picture it in my mind.
