The liners underlay the geotextile filtration system and prevent the clean, filtered water from perolating back into the ground. The "run off" from the dam that surrounds the geotextile bags is collected and reused as process water in the plant to process the gold bearing fines.
PCFG has a quota on how much groundwater it can pump each years and by recycling as much as possible, it will be able to increase production as needed. If you watch the video on the PCFG website of how the bags opperate it will become appearent how the bags function.
It is my understanding that other then a small amount of floculant that is injected in to the feed tube to the bags (to help bind the clay fines)the PCFG process is chemical free.
