ot watcher, we did not want any strings attached plus adopting from Russia is much faster the the US in most cases. The children in Russia are orphans, the parents have terminatated their rights. In the US birth parents have taken the adopted parents to court and got the child back even after the adoption was finalized. Plus, we would hate to be tracked down and be 'stalked' by the birth parent(s) and their relatives. There are other reason too but do not want to bore you with all of it. We are very lucky to have our child. To be called 'Daddy' on Father's Day, wow, what a feeling!
