Trader............what is so important that people have to be multi tasking while they drive a 3000 lb vehicle at 60mph on the highway. Are the people we ticketed for talking or texting on their phones while driving that important that they have to be in constant contact with someone at 2 in the morning?

I don't know if anyone who received a ticket is "barley surviving" and to be honest, I really don't care. The law is in place for a reason, and I have seen the results of some that think they are above it.

I guess I'm a bad person because I'd rather give a teen driver a $155 ticket than scrape their brains off the dash because they crashed while texting.

Someone PM'd me that I should be doing what I'm "paid to do", and that is serve and protect. Well, first off, I'm not paid.
I'm retired, and volunteer my time when asked.
That PM also used the words harrasment and entrapment.
I didn't stop anyone that wasn't clearly breaking the law and I didn't trick or force anyone to use their phone while driving so I can dismiss that comment.

This week’s campaign is called “Phone in one hand, Ticket in the other.”
It is a zero tolerance campaign. You get caught, get a ticket.
I have no choice.

Does a shit load of tickets make me happy.....No.
But filing an accident report on a 17 year old girl who drove into a train at a fully lit crossing while texting and died on impact made me sad and having to inform her parents of her death made me cry. I can be a prick at times, but I do have feelings.

Maybe, just maybe, one driver out of all those who got ticketed this weekend will realize that driving while distracted could end like this...........

and will pull over to place that call or text.

Knowing that I may have prevented this...............

gives me some joy.

I know the government loves the revenue generated from tickets.
It's like a tax.

But if you obey the laws, it's one of the taxes you don't have to pay....ever.

Just obey the law. It's that simple.

Sorry about the rant......I'm tired.

and it should be...barely surviving....barley goes in soup.

Remember........ It's better to wish you had bought a
stock, than to wish you hadn't.
