Oh yes .. the Frogs aren't nearly up to the standards they so romantically portray in the movies.

Worked with several of their regular military in Africa, mostly an airborne unit there to teach the Congolese to parachute. One tried to out drink me one night at the French Military Attache's house .. I left to drive home and he was passed out in the outdoor goldfish pond ...

Was at my front gate the next afternoon waiting when I got home. Handed me his airborne beter of fhis head, and took off his rank insignia and airborne badge from his cammies, and gave them to me .. told me I earned them last night! I still have them. We because real tight after that and I ended up introducing him to a lady who worked at our embassy, whom he later married. He never even pretended to challenge me in any more drinking contets though!

Back to the topic ... Just read up on the ROKs activities in Vietnam ... The White Horse or Tiger division .. Bunch of rough SOBs for sure!
