Hey Lou, I'm dedicated to enhancing my understanding of re-opt today and now a question. In chapter 4 of the manual re-opt is indicated in mid January 2002 for IBM. I don't see how at this point X_DEV could be re-opted for a downtrend with only up trend data to look back on. In "Suggestions for Down trends" this is the only part that gives me trouble. I would probably want to bail out here and watch for confirmation of the downtrend. That brings the next question. How far in the downtrend would we have to go to have enough data to re-opt. It seems we wouldn't want a lot of the old up trend included.

In the last week I started to use X_DEV to manage some of my existing positions that have been thrashed as diving AIMers. Also some SPY which we have been having has received some X_DEV induced sells. All though they are actually not ideal candidates for X_DEV, and don't get the benefit of starting fresh with cash I think so far it is working. I really like the idea of having definite buy and sell points as it helps get some of the emotion out of it. I follow three very different market gurus, and my cranial processor then comes up with a "feel" for the market. I like for X_DEV's recommendations to match that market "feel". My present gurus are Tom Veal with his AIM newsletter, Robert Drach and his newsletter, and Zeev Hed. It's a diverse group for sure!

The holidays were good, and I hope yours were also.
