Going even further with your story what if said driver had no money for gas. He then asks each passenger to chip in for the gas and off he goes. Now unbeknown to them he is fed up driving them to where ever it is they are going. So he simply walks away leaving said passengers and junker to fend for themselves. Much the way things are with Ken Stead and KATX. Just as possible as any scenario.
