Intel / transmeta comparison
I found the presentation at:
http://www.twst.com/econf/mm/needham3/tmta.html
The "feel" of the presentation is that TMTA is way ahead of Intel on their four key attributes in the cute little table on foil 10:

TMTA Intel
Long battery life 1 .25
Low cost 1 0
High performance .75 1
Low power 1 .25

Which certainly leaves you with the feeling that Intel is toast. I generated a table with some actual data rather than filled in circles and got this if we use the latest TMTA product and a 733Mhz LV Celeron:

TMTA Intel
Long battery life 5W 7W
Low cost $85-$198 $96
High performance .5X X
Low power 5W 7W

Of course battery life is going to be more a function of the display, disk drives, and such more than the processor... but everything else being equal the two products will have VERY similar battery life.
I have always felt TMTA marketing was pretty sleazy, and this presentation certainly reconfirms that impression.
