THIS SHOULD HELP SAVW ALONG

European Ban on 60 Watt Incandescents Sets In
Sep 5, 2011
Starting September 1, 2011, European households will largely ban inefficient 60 watt incandescent light bulbs from use.

LEDs will be among the energy-efficient choices offered at stores instead, along with CFLs and halogen lights (that are insignificantly less efficient than incandescents). However, this change will ultimately allow Europeans to choose from lighting solutions 75% more efficient than incandescent light bulbs with lifetimes seven times as long.

Greenpeace EU energy policy adviser Frauke Thies asserts that part of the battle against climate change requires saving energy. Efficient bulbs will cut energy bills and carbon output. Now that the government has removed one of the worst sources, it is key to recognize that "efficiency remains the easiest and cheapest way to cut carbon emissions."
