Universal Music, EMI Music Publishing Create Licensing Pact

Universal Music and EMI Music Publishing have recently inked a licensing
partnership, with the pair focused on several new delivery formats. That
includes the licensing of videos for both on-demand and downloadable
consumption, along with DualDisc releases. Audio downloads and mobile music
content are also included in the agreement. The partnership follows a
similar arrangement between EMI Music Publishing and Sony BMG, with the
massive publishing group interested in maximizing royalties on new delivery
technologies. With most artists signing separate label and publishing deals,
that sort of alliance helps to avoid complicated and time-consuming rights
clearance processes.
